Post Title:     Directorate Nurse Manager - Medical Directorate  Post Status:     Permanent Department      Medical  Directorate Location:      Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9   Reports to:      Director of Nursing  Salary:     Appointment will be made on Assistant Director of Nursing salary scale (€56,429- €69,541) at a point in line with Government pay policy.   Hours of work:       Full-Time Closing Date:      12 Noon on 4th June 2018 Job Summary The Directorate Nurse Manager is a key member of the Directorate Management Team providing operational and clinical leadership to support ward managers and nursing teams in providing the highest possible quality of care. Key Result Areas: i.    To take the lead responsibility for ensuring adequate clinical governance in respect of nursing services and to develop and implement the Strategic and Operational nursing plans of the Directorate. ii.    To provide leadership to all nursing staff in the Directorate. iii.    To take responsibility for the performance management including appraisal of nursing staff and HCA's. iv.    To be accountable to Director of Nursing for professional practice and standards of nursing care and to influence the non clinical contributions that are necessary to deliver a high quality care service including standards of cleanliness, of the environment, food and other services that impact on patient care and welfare.   PERSON SPECIFICIATION Educated to degree level or equivalent. Management qualification or a post graduate diploma. Career progression through continuing professional development. Masters level in a related field (Desirable) Experience of middle/senior management in a complex organisation •    A minimum of 7 years post       registration experience with a       minimum of 3 years at Clinical       Nurse Manager grade or above. - Highly developed specialist knowledge of managing multi-professional teams underpinned by formal training - Successful operational management in a multi-professional environment - Day-to-day people management including appraisal and objective setting, recruitment and retention - Management of large complex budget - Operational planning and implementation including strategic planning and options appraisal      - Health Services management experience - Career progression through continuing professional development - Willingness to undertake training and development as identified in order to progress personal and professional development      Desirable: - Sound knowledge of the working of the wider healthcare system in Ireland and internationally - Sound understanding of the HSE Transformation Agenda - Comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of financial and commissioning frameworks - Workforce and capacity planning, managing waiting lists and developing business cases - Knowledge and application of key policies and procedures to include access to services, Health and Safety, HR Guidance and Governance etc.      - Knowledge of social services and voluntary organisations. - Up-to-date knowledge of contemporary professional nursing, including current trends in care delivery and therapeutic intraventions. - Understanding of current professional nursing  issues. - Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of clinical governance/audit as relevant to nursing practice - Good working knowledge of all relevant codes of professional practice    - A high level awareness of codes of professional practice for relevant non nursing professions. - Strong negotiation and influencing skills and diplomacy -  Effective team leader and team player with the ability to work flexibly in a diverse and highly demanding team - Working well under pressure of time and resources - Analytical skills, literacy and numeracy.  Ability to analyse highly complex data and formulate reports - Project Management Skills - Comprehensive understanding and experience of highly complex information analysis essential for communicating business, finance and workforce plans
