Reporting into the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller will manage a small team and be responsible for the day to day finances for a number of businesses.

Client Details

Our client, based in Wiltshire, manages investments and provides financial and other professional services support. They currently have an opening for a Financial Controller to lead a small team and ensure the financial integrity for a number of business entities.

Description

Key responsibilities for the Financial Controller will include:

  • Management of the finance team to achieve the production of monthly management accounts, including commentary and analysis against budget, Quarterly VAT returns, Preparation of annual budgets and monthly cash and P&L forecasts in support of the business managers;
  • Acting as the liaison with auditors;
  • Production of relevant entity statutory accounts;
  • Overseeing and maintaining strong financial controls across the office including monthly reconciliations, segregation of activities, payment and banking controls;
  • Production of Financial Control Policies and Processes for all entities. Monitor compliance of all entities within the wider group;
  • Working with the treasury team to provide the treasury back office function ensuring controls are in place and trades are settled and recorded in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Working with the HoF to support the company's governance structure;
  • Continually reviewing all financial control systems and propose and implement changes as necessary to enhance control and efficiency.
  • Working with the Head of Group Financial Reporting to enhance reporting processes and formats.
  • Working with the Finance Systems team to improve the user experience and to explore and develop improvements to the system and its output. Ensure that appropriate controls are embedded, and review mechanisms are in place.
  • Supporting the tax department to ensure reporting is as efficient as possible for tax reporting purposes.

Profile

In order to be considered for the Financial Controller position, you will have the following:

  • Finance qualification with at least 5-10 years PQE (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

  • Significant financial control experience with prior experience in a Financial Controller role desirable.
  • Experience of statutory audit & reporting very desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail with high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organisation with strong prioritisation skills and a strong focus on deadlines.
  • Flexible attitude, with good communication skills and a good team player.
