Job description:
Position Description - Purpose
Support the OU (operating unit) business planning and performance management processes for UPO/T (NAM NL, ONEgas UK and Germany), with focus on value creation and delivery over the asset lifecycle.
NAM is a 50/50 joint venture of Shell and ExxonMobil. It is operated by Shell and develops all NL based Upstream activities. NAM is an important part of Upstream Operated (UPO), the Line of Business that primarily covers Shell's operated Upstream oil and gas operations and investments. Finance in NAM covers a wide range of Finance areas of a Shell Production Company.

Position Description - Accountabilities

    Support the OU Planning and Appraisal (P&A), integrating both operated and non-operated aspects and ensuring a overall OU-level view. Support the Senior P&A Advisor in preparing the annual strategic plan refresh and operating plan. Responsible for the key metric generator (containing numbers for revenue, production, total cost, capital investment, etc), which , inputs to senior management presentations and NAM booklet inputs. Support OU level business performance appraisal. Drive a performance and value creation culture, with business performance appraisal (both in and above OU level) focused on unlocking opportunities to enhance value, assessing performance against relevant competitive benchmarks, and on early intervention to mitigate potential downside risk. Support the annual cycle for the OU’s Performance Unit Reviews, driving coordination in this respect, and supporting delivery of high quality performance unit review. Participate in Planning & Appraisal networks and best practice sharing. Delivery of the monthly VPLT note - a summary note of financial results of NAM as a whole and with a split per assets with actuals compared to the business plan and full year latest estimates (FYLE); it includes narratives of main performance drivers and the reasons for fluctuations. Delivery of monthly Opex tracker and NAM Business Performance Review (BPR) dashboard. Delivery of the quarterly LE (latest estimates) and DVA’s (deviations), coordinate the Threats & Opportunities submission to Shell Group and preparation of development summary to Shell NL (shareholder) and EY (external auditor). Review monthly BPR pack prepared by Shell Group. Support the Senior P&A Advisor in the preparation of the NAM Director for the meetings of the NAM Board, the College van Beheer Maatschap (Management of the Joint Venture for the Groningen gas field) and the Shell NL BV Board; be the custodian of the associated document management. Manage effectively interfaces with FO (Finance Operations) and non-FO stakeholders, build end to end perspective. Resolve and escalate issues timely and effectively. Initiate and lead process improvements.

Position description – Special Challenges
UPO-T is an important area in the Shell Operated portfolio, contributing a significant share of overall Production, Earnings and CFFO/CSD. It is important to create full transparency for the UPO/T Leadership team on targets, LEs and actual business performance to support the Performance Unit Reviews and in-house BPRs.
The UPO-T business is complex:

    Germany (SEB/BEB) is a Non Operated Venture with both Oil and Gas plays The Netherlands with many fields in a joint venture NAM with two shareholders that actively drive and influence the JV The UK Southern North Sea offshore fields and receiving plants.

Requirements:

    Academic education in Finance or related subject, professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, EMFC) or equivalent. At least 8 years’ experience in finance, previous exposure to planning and appraisal and/or projects economics preferred. Strong analytical and problem solving skills; adds insight that aids decision making and value delivery. Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills as well as ability to build effective relationships effectively across organizational boundaries.

  2. Demonstrate experience of driving interventions to create, add and/or protect value. Excellent written and spoken business level in English Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and Powerpoint. Eagerness to learn and develop

Knowledge FN input to Joint Ventures Finance management of Shell’s investments in businesses operated as joint ventures with the aim of creating additional short and long term value for Shell from these investments, whilst managing and mitigating key risks to both Shell and the joint venture itself.
Knowledge Governance and Assurance Design and Operate effective and efficient governance processes and structures which add value and meet the requirements of the Shell Control Framework. Develop and implement structured assurance mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of risk management and internal control systems. Knowledge Risk Management Understands the risks to the achievement of the business objectives and ensures that appropriate actions are implemented to mitigate the risks. Apply and implement risk management concepts in a systematic manner to identify and mitigate significant business risks.
