Our client is currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner. The Finance Business Partner is a key finance role with responsibility for managing financial control and analysis across a range of contracts, which includes a significant amount of MoD contracts. This role performs detailed and robust analysis of financial information to support and guide management decision making and business support. This role will also produce and evaluate investments and assist where necessary with bid proposals for the business area.

The prime location is in Christchurch, Dorset. Salary: highly negotiable plus excellent benefits

As Finance Business Partner your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

• CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified with good accounting experience and strong intellectual curiosity

• Experience in working with MoD contracts and a sound understanding of SSRO reporting requirements (essential)

• A track record of co-ordination of accounting activities and of 'making things happen’

• Commercially minded Management Accountant

• Experience of operating within a business organisation taking responsibility for all financial aspects

• Ability to work unsupervised, with the drive to improve financial performance

• Prepared to work flexibly to achieve deadlines and multi-task, re-adjusting priorities and delivering accordingly

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and to influence others at all levels of the organisation

• Able to present and communicate financial information to both Finance and non-Finance colleagues

• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and experience of other Finance systems

• Experience of producing quality variance analysis, data and KPIs, budgeting & forecasting, problem solving and management accounts

  As Finance Business Partner your main responsibilities will involve:

• Manage the preparation and review of the business area financials for monthly reporting and forecasting, annual budget and long range financial plan purposes, ensuring timeliness, robustness and integrity of submissions

• Build an effective stakeholder partnership with the GM

• Provide challenge to the operations of the business area to drive efficiency, profitability and growth

• Monitor and challenge contract financial performance, with particular focus on cash conversion and accuracy of cash forecasts

• Assist with the preparation of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

• Collate and report on other contractual/financial key performance indicators

• Manage contract accounting issues such as IFRS15 and IFRS16, ensuring impact on financial reporting is understood across the business area

• Support and prepare financial analysis of specific bids and proposals as required

• Manage the preparation of regular MoD and SSRO contract performance reports and submit in a timely manner

• Collaborate and work with the wide Finance team as well as other functions and operational colleagues, to support continuous improvement processes across the business (with a particular focus on Finance)
