Our client are a well-established law firm ranked in the top 10 firms in Wales. With a team of around 100, including 11 partners, they deliver a wide range of legal services throughout England and Wales.

The Role
The Accounts Assistant will be primarily responsible for ensuring the Firm’s compliance with the SRA whilst helping protect the Firm and its clients from money laundering and fraud.

The Candidate
The suitable candidate will possess administrative skills, including drafting letters and completing forms, as well as a finance background. Good communication skills and strong excel skills are essential in this role as well as the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines to satisfy the needs of the Accounting Team.

Role / Job Purpose
To be primarily responsible for ensuring the Firm’s compliance with the SRA whilst helping protect the Firm and its clients from money laundering and fraud.

The suitable candidate will be expected to carry out the following duties:-

• Input of CHAPS/BACS payments
• Legal Help
• Expense Claims
• Stamp Duty Payments
• Processing Streamline Payments
• LMS Statements
• Review of outstanding bank reconciliation items (unpresented cheques)
• Legal Aid
• Credit Control
• Share of ONS Business Stats Surveys
• Control of Petty Cash Requests
• Policy and procedures – Documents to be kept up to date/reviewed
• Update and Review of Unclaimed Money
• HESL Inter-Company Statement
• Salary and Pension Reconciliations
• Legal Services Bank Reconciliation

Where applicable, we must also keep payroll records, holiday pay, sick pay and pensions auto-enrolment records for as long as is legally required by HMRC and associated national minimum wage, social security and tax legislation.
