Assistant Financial Controller, Colchester Hotel, Up to £25,000pa + Company Benefits
At Select Hospitality Chelmsford we are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an Assistant Financial Controller. The successful candidate will assist with ensuring the accounts records and controls are maintained, ensuring they accurately reflect all income and expenditure of the hotel. Previous hotel experience a must.
The Role
• To work with the Financial Controller to provide accurate hotel accounts, statistics and financial information
• To assist with ensuring achievement of budgeted profitability of all departments
• To manage the hotel sales ledger/purchase ledger
• To ensure effective control systems are monitored and in place within the hotel
• To support the department heads to achieve profitability within all departments
• To supervise two other finance team members and ensure that their daily tasks are completed.
Experience and Skills Required
• Experienced assistant financial controller who is hands on and proactive in handling problems that may arise.
• To have implemented procedures and policies
• Hotel background ideal with AAT qualifications or the willingness to gain in post
• Effective communication skills
• Influencer at all levels and able to get manager buy in to operating practices
• Good organiser
• Able to demand results from line managers
• Use of Fidelio, Sun an advantage
• Able to handle new projects without much support
• Strong IT skills essential e.g. Excel
Personal Characteristics
• Self-motivated
• Enthusiastic and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Not afraid to ask for and seek information
• A real people person who is friendly and approachable
