Group Accountant

My client are a dynamic organisation with a strong production portfolio of oil and gas across Africa. They are moving into their next phase of development and are seeking a Finance Manager/Group Accountant to join their Head Office team in London.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the timely and accurate production of the Groups consolidated and standalone financial accounts and month end process.

You will also have heavy operational exposure as you will be the Finance manager for their non-African operations and operated exploration assets, reporting obligations under the PSC.

The role will suit a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) either from an Accountancy firm directly (ideally at Audit Manager level) or in industry already. Either way, relevant experience or knowledge within the oil and gas industry is desired.

This is a role that will be overseeing a team who compile the Financial Accounts so is ideal for candidates looking to broaden their exposure in a growing oil and gas business.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Ownership of the month end close and related processes, including streamlining of tasks, supporting team members and improving quality and efficiency of close
• Ownership of the consolidation model, ensuring a well documented audit trail
• Preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial accounts
• Preparation of Group consolidated annual and interim accounts and subsidiaries statutory accounts
• Management of audit process and liaison with Group auditors
• Preparation of significant accounting judgement papers including impairment, going concern and any other relevant judgements required
• Responsible for the ongoing improvement of SunSystems and the procurement system, enforcing systems and controls
• Creation and application of Group accounting procedures across the group, issue of a Group accounting procedures manual.
• JV audit co-ordinator

This role reports into the GFC with regular interaction with the CFO and colleagues at the asset sites. There is no travel expected with this position.
