The Engineering Support Manager will provide specialized. Technical and Fleet Compliance leadership to the Southampton based Commercial Vehicle team. The Engineering Support Manager will report to the Fleet Manager and will assist in developing and implementing strategic fleet plans.
Requirements
Essential -Strong and demonstrable experience in all areas of Fleet Engineering and Fleet Compliance -Proven experience managing an internal Fleet Administration function -Automotive Engineering Degree qualification or equivalent via recognised Engineering Apprenticeship -Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills -Ability to identify and implement performance goals, priorities, recommend measures -Experience of developing and delivering sustainable changes across a department/function -Good knowledge of customer and financial performance -IT literate in systems relevant to role i.e. MS Office and FleetWave -Resilient and able to constructively challenge and influence -Proven and demonstrable ability to understand customer and business requirements -Driving Licence (travel and overnight stays are required)
Desirable -Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, specifically associated with Fleet Engineering -Membership of a relevant professional body; Society of Operations Engineers, Institute of Mechanical Engineers or Institute of the Motor Industry -Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence -Demonstrable supplier management experience
Key Results Areas
You will be required to: -Provide Leadership and Guidance to all aspects of the Commercial Vehicle Team’s daily activity -Provide first line Engineering, Technical and Compliance support to both the Commercial Vehicle Team and the wider business -Utilise Professional Development opportunities to remain appraised of current best practice in both Engineering and Compliance arenas, adopting where appropriate to the benefit of the business -Strategically review processes; identifying and implementing beneficial improvements -Develop Key Performance Indicators; identifying opportunities to enhance service performance and improve economics -Manage the timely provision of a new vehicle supply chain, aiding the technical development aspects of this provision -Manage the Purchase Order process, supporting the team with Technical challenges and identify opportunities to reduce financial exposure through Engineering solutions -Support managing the general performance of our external suppliers to an exemplary level -Provide coaching and identify development opportunities for subordinate team members effectively professionalising the team -Ensure the fleet remains compliant with all statutory legislation (LOLER/PUWER/DVSA etc)
