My client, a major Financial Services Provider with offices in Hove are looking for a Risk & Governance Manager to aid them in their Operational Risk functions.

Job Duties

This role is to lead the Risk and Governance function within the Group Finance department, providing 1st-line risk management support for a large business area of over 300 staff based in three locations (Hove, London, and Cardiff), ensuring that operational risks with material financial, regulatory or customer impact are effectively identified, assessed, monitored, managed, and reported.

The successful candidate will establish and embed an effective operational risk management framework within the Group Finance department, delivering and developing risk management capability across the department to meet evolving business requirements. Develop and maintain good working relationships with all key stakeholders, including the business management, 2nd-line Group Risk functions, and Group Internal Audit.

Skills Required

Qualifications:

Qualifications in risk management and project management are desirable but not essential.

Knowledge:

Risk Management
In-depth knowledge and understanding of risk management principles and methodologies.
Good understanding of risk policies and standards
Previous experience of establishing an operational risk management framework within a 1st-line environment
Knowledge and working experience in using an integrated risk management system

Industry Knowledge:

Experience in the financial services industry.
Specific experience in one or more of the following fields: finance, accounting, financial reporting, project management, business analysis, process management/ optimisation.

Technology:

Experienced user of Microsoft Office products

Talk about own ideas in advance to generate interest and enthusiasm.

Ability to help customers identify their needs and requirements, and provide practical solutions.
Proactively identify benefits to the customer to add value.

Ability to quickly grasp complex processes and issues in order to identify solutions.
Ability to effectively communicate the vision and local goal
Ability to influence across boundaries

Understanding Others:

Anticipate the possible reactions of others (both groups and individuals) to differing messages and styles.

Recognise and acknowledge different value sets of others; Use knowledge of different approaches and behaviours to reduce barriers.

People Management & Developing Others:

Ability to motivate staff in order to meet team and individual targets and understand how to develop others capability through personal development and training process.

Constantly encourage the development of skills, expertise and knowledge in others aligned to longer term needs of the business.

Ability to delegate tasks and targets appropriately and effectively.

Organisation & Prioritisation:

Ability to proactively manage and prioritise own workload to meet the needs of the customer, the business and our regulatory requirements.
