Hamlin Knight Finance are working with a family-owned £12m t/o company to recruit a Financial Controller.

The Role will be responsible to the Chief Executive. Whilst this is essentially a finance orientated role, it will also encompass the overall administration of the business as well so will be particularly suited to someone who welcomes a varied role - not specifically a dedicated finance role only. The role has two reports, an Accounts Assistant and a Sales Administrator to assist in delivering this essential part of the business. The finance and administrative roles are broken down as follows:-

Preparation of monthly management accounts using Sage Line 50 financial Controller

Management of purchase and sales ledger functions, including making and receiving
payments, credit control, and credit referencing.

VAT - preparation of quarterly returns, monthly Intrastat arrivals and dispatches submissions on-line and monthly EC Sales returns.

Preparation of cash flows. Cash management on a daily basis with access via internet banking. Purchase of foreign currency as necessary for payment of suppliers (generally in Euros)

Warranty submission and supervision of warranty matters corresponding re disputes and unpaid warranty.

Administration

Oversee personnel matters for the Company and assist the Managing Director in personnel related issues. Respond to the day-to-day financial needs of the Managing Director as required.

Office management - dealing with mobile phones, office telephones, printing, stationery, general office equipment, computers and internal premises maintenance. Co-ordinating all IT support for internal and external staff in association with our external consultants. General troubleshooting and the management and training of the admin assistant and sales office administrator.

Responsibility for sourcing commercial vehicles. Liaising with the Senior Managers as regards matters relating to his staff and other general issues.

Receipt of detailed customer orders for trucks prepared by sales force for onward submission to OEM. Organising set up of office files for same.

The Person

Be a qualified and experienced management accountant
Must be an excellent communicator - especially over the telephone
Will have a friendly 'can-do' attitude and make all stakeholders feel comfortable that their issue will be sorted
Will be very customer-focussed and will keep his/her promises
Have strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook) plus practical Sage experience or near-equivalent
Working in a small team.
