The opportunity


This is your chance to play an important role in maintaining and delivering Essex County Council's financial control and governance framework. Your role will be to ensure that the Council complies with the accounting codes, standards and regulations that apply to local authorities, including those related to UK duties and taxes. Your role will have a strong focus on Treasury Management and you will ensure the Council's internal framework complies with the highest standards of financial governance. When needed you will be supporting on a range of projects and programmes across teams, and you will deliver training and technical guidance to support your team's development. You will lead by example, creating an atmosphere of trust, respect and credibility in your role, as well as in your team and across the organisation.

About you


In terms of your knowledge and skills, you will need a full CCAB qualification, with evidence of your continuing professional development. You're a strong, confident communicator with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. Someone who's always looking for new challenges and opportunities and who provides creative and innovative solutions to existing ones. You enjoy challenging the status quo; you're curious and flexible to the needs of the role, ready to get more involved where necessary to meet tight deadlines.
