Job Title: Internal Auditor, Finance

 

Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra 

 

Reporting Line: Chief Finance Officer

 

Supervision: Assistant Executive Officers

 

Job Summary

  • The Internal Auditor is responsible for the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, as well as assisting with other audit matters and projects

 

Job Description

  • Test the operation and tweak the design of existing financial controls
  • Maintain and cultivate a master inventory of our businesses policies, practices and processes
  • Improve customer care by initiating improvements to the financial control and auditing process
  • Perform inquiries and testing as needed to identify and resolve vulnerabilities
  • Develop new audit programs to ensure adequate financial controls
  • Plan internal client meetings and oversee financial disclosures
  • Make recommendations to financial management about software, policies and audit triggers
  • Create and update internal audit
  • Conduct risk assessment of assigned department or functional area in established/required timeline 
  • Establish risk-based audit programs 
  • Determine scope of review in conjunction with the Board
  • Review the suitability of internal control design 
  • Conduct audit testing of specified area and identify reportable issues and dimension of risk 
  • Determine compliance with policies and procedures

 

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a degree in Accounting or Finance or an MBA and/or a professional accounting certification from a recognized institution
  • At least 3-5 years progressive finance & Audit related experience, preferably in a Financial or Insurance Industry

 

Required Skills and Competencies

  • ACCA or ICAG certification
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Knowledge of accounting best practices
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to learn industry standards
