My client is looking for a Finance Manager. This role is with the education sector and you will be reporting in to the Bursar and directly responsible for the Finance Team.
General Description
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient financial
management of business. The post holder will support the Bursar with the day to day aspects of all financial functions of the school and provide guidance and advice as required.
Responsibilities:
Financial planning and control
• Control of sales and purchase ledger
• Provide the Bursar with sufficient and timely management of financial information
• To provide detailed management accounts for the board on a monthly basis
Management of accounts and compliance procedures
• Produce the annual accounts for audit
• VAT and PAYE returns are compliant with the requirements of HMRC
• Prepare and produce the annual budget for approval by the Bursar
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Manage and report on the pension schemes
• Prepare and maintain accurate and timely tax returns
• Liaise with the insurance brokers
Cash Management
• Supervise credit control procedures
• Manage and monitor all bank accounts on a daily basis
Management
• Provide leadership of the Finance Department
• Ensure effective communication within the department and hold regular departmental meetings
• Ensure high standards are maintained through regular performance appraisals and management
We would like you to have a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) and a member of a relevant professional body.
Previous managerial experience, including the direct management of staff would be an advantage.
Working hours will be 37.5 hours per week but in outline 8.30am to 5.00pm
Monday to Friday with one-hour unpaid lunch break. This is a senior position and therefore
there will be times when longer hours are required.
