Accounts Payable Manager

Houston, TX

Our client is a growing company based in Houston.

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable professional to manage the AP function including disbursements, 1099 and tax–related matters, purchase orders, and employee expense reporting.

Will manage a team of 8 employees and be responsible for training and development of the team.

The Manager will manage all related reporting and compliance functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform daily accounts payable functions
  • Vendor payments
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of AP systems
  • Serve as a liaison between the Company, government and external accountants to satisfy informational needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate leadership team and other departments within the company
  • Develop financial statements / reporting
  • Prepare and recommend operating and personnel budgets and adherence
  • Manage the accounts payable team, while focusing on performance management and development to meet department and organizational performance objectives
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and proper audit support within the AP function to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
  • 7+ years applicable accounting experience, including 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting software
  • Must have large AP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills for interacting and communicating with internal and external customers
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • High volume accounts payable experience required
  • Good presentation skills required for informing/educating internal clients
  • Solid planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Effective leadership skills to motivate and coordinate staff
  • Must demonstrate integrity in all interactions and strive for excellence in all aspects of the job
