REED Finance is recruiting for a leading retail organisation who place customers at the heart of everything they do.

The team in question provides process excellence and expertise in Accounting, Reporting, Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting for Property, Fixed Assets and Information Systems unlocking capacity to enable the wider team to deliver greater value through business partnering and decision support.

Key skills / Experience;

- Produce Occupancy Finance reporting to enable Estates Finance Manager to drive business performance
- Execute Information Systems accounting processes (including period-end transactions and journals) in the core finance systems and validate outputs of direct reports to drive completion of accurate and representative financial statements in line with the agreed deadlines and quality standards
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the Estates accounting and reporting processes and outputs
- Develop insights related to Occupancy costs which drive productive action / improved business performance
- Execute (through direct reports) the following Occupancy processes in line with pre-determined timelines and the financial controls framework submitting outputs to the Accounting Manager for review
o Review and posting of periodic journals for Rent, Rates and Service charges accounting
o Balance Sheet Reconciliations
o Concessions Income
o Monitoring of provisions for Onerous Leases and Dilapidations
o Payment Authority Governance
o Timely Cash Funding -payments/transfers for rent and rates.
o Management Accounting Schedules & reporting
o Liaise with outsource partner on property payment and receipts
o Work closely with Estates Finance Manager to provide accurate and timely data on occupancy costs

- Apply technical accounting expertise to facilitate internal audits and support external audit preparation
- Identify where financial controls are not operating as required and drive remediation
- Support the delivery of Finance improvement initiatives and implementation of internal & external best practices to enhance process efficiency and quality of outputs including:
o Data quality improvements
o Elimination, simplification and/or automation of transactional activities (e.g. journals, period end, reconciliations etc.)
o Reporting improvements e.g. report rationalisation, design and implementation

- Responsible for managing relationships with relevant internal and external (third party) stakeholders
- Responsible for managing and developing team members
- Share relevant tools and lessons learnt with Finance & Non-Finance stakeholders

The successful candidate will have the following;

- Ability to deliver balance sheet reconciliations and P&L schedules for the management accounts with appropriate commentary in the required time frame.
- Feedback from major customers at half year and year end
- Clean audit half year / full year sign-off and no major audit letter points.
- Qualified accountant with indicative 0-3 post-qualification experience or relevant experience (or studying towards a professional accounting qualification)
- Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
- Ability to identify process issues, understand & fix root causes
- Strong analytical skills, Excel skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work fluidly with data and across systems e.g. reporting tools
