Financial Controller

Circa £36,(Apply online only) - £42,(Apply online only) per annum
Interim Period: 3 months estimated but negotiable.
Temporary to permanent option available
Railston is a growing SME and is structuring their finance department to suit the needs of a successful and dynamic growing business. Active particularly within Europe and internationally. The business is project based, fast track and Dynamic. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate flexibility and be able to work in a fluid and challenging environment. They will play a key role in managing this change, leading by example. Proving to be a strong technical leader.
The Role
The Financial Controller position will have the following duties:
* Reporting to a main board Director, the Financial Controller will have responsibility for business planning, forecasting and monthly reporting for the group. Outside the monthly reporting cycle, the focus will be on driving through initiatives and Finance projects.
* Maintain strong financial governance and transparency of key customer, capex and internal projects and report into main board as required.
* Attend regular business meetings including management and project meetings.
* Ensure the business remains IFRS 15 compliant covering awareness & training, processes and reporting.
* Ensure adequate financial controls are in place and adhered to, including all key profit and loss and balance sheet reconciliations across the business.
* Maintain strong control over working capital and cash, providing accurate forecasts monthly and ensuring tight control of WIP & debt.
* Provide meaningful, value adding analysis on issues impacting the business both current and future.
* Provide pro-active support to the main Board Director (s) on month end issues, forecasting, year-end and business planning processes and produce key analysis schedules.
* Play a key role in planning, organising and executing several business initiatives to improve turnover, profitability and financial governance.
* Assist the Director to develop the Finance team and drive improvements and innovation that are aligned to the strategy of the business.
* Proactive communicator. Picking up the phone and building and maintaining relationships with the Line Managers.
Standard Working Hours: 8.30 – 5.00 Mon. – Fri.
Flexible working hours and or days.
The Candidate
To be considered for the Financial Controller position, you will have the following skills an attributes:
* Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) accountant with appropriate experience of similar financial leadership roles.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* 5 years accounting and line management experience
* Comfortable with and experience of team management
* Experience of managing currency exposure risk
* Accounting for group companies/cost centres
* Ability to interpret, summarise and manipulate large volumes of transactions
* Strong customer service and quality focus
* Review key business processes, take ownership, sell and implement improvements
* Comfortable building and using Excel pivot tables and multilinked files.
