REED Accountancy are pleased to be working with an established and reputable manufacturer based in Frome who are looking to recruit an assistant management accountant for a period of 12 months whilst they go through a new system implementation.
This role will see the successful applicant performing a role that is commercial and very involved. You will gain invaluable experience in 'real accounting'. You will be exposed to all areas of the business and liaise with a variety of employees from the factory floor to the board room.

Key responsibilities:
• Download weekly OPM reports, creating actual weekly performance data for review with management accountant.
• To monitor key factory variances weekly and inform MA when variances deviate materially from plan.
• Assist the Management Accountant in developing added value management reports from manufacturing systems which help drive down costs and improve efficiencies.
• Complete monthly production stock reconciliation alongside weekly reviews and performing investigations where differences arise as well as instigating corrective actions to improve stock controls as appropriate.
• Assist Batch Analyst in resolving batch issues, ensuring accuracy of shopfloor transactions and reconciling any WIP balances at period end.
• Responsible for the accurate reporting of obsolete and redundant packaging and raw material stock through liaison with planning and marketing, ensuring risk is highlighted early to give the business the opportunity to negate any potential loss.
• Recharging costs of relevant trials to the central R&D team and provide them with any performance/cost information requests.
• Maintenance of standard cost data in manufacturing systems [Formula’s & recipes / Bought In item master data].
• Daily / Weekly / Monthly Site KPI reporting administration [including Operational / Supply Chain / Engineering / HR / Technical KPIs].
The ideal applicant will meet the following criteria:
• Excellent I.T. skills - specifically advanced Excel, Power point.
• Excellent analytical & problem solving skills.
• Highly effective communicator both verbally and written.
• Must demonstrate willingness and ability to work with others to achieve common goals.
