Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 dependant on experience + Company benefits

Contract: Permanent and Full Time - 40 hours per week 8.30am - 5.30pm, Monday Friday

The Role:

The Financial Accountant role is based in Northampton where much of the board are based including the CEO and FD. The financial accounts team are currently looking to take advantage of opportunities to improve processes around the business. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make an impact in this highly visible role.

The role will involve reconciling balance sheets, implementing financial controls across the Reed group, take the lead on documenting key business processes, preparation of journals, management reporting, supporting the accounting and audit processes, dealing with senior management queries across the business and building on these relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as other finance departments, IT, Marketing, Property, Procurement, external auditors, ONS, international operations and HMRC.

You will also manage (and take ownership of) selected financial accounting activities, including VAT Returns, Property lease management, Corporation Tax analysis, PAYE Returns, Cash flow analysis and Fixed Asset Register.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA. You will also have a strong academic background. You will need to have strong financial accounts experience and proven track record in a finance environment. Ideally have experience of the accurate preparation of balance sheets and their reconciliation. You will need to have good Excel skills and ideally have some knowledge of systems such as Oracle (not essential).
