Logistics Assistant REPORTS TO: Managing Director LOCATION: Rodney Bay, St. Lucia TYPE: Full Time Position Overview The Logistics Assistant is responsible for managing the logistics of importation and buying for the organization.  The incumbent is required to work closely with the Managing Director and will be privy to confidential information. Key Responsibilities Prepare import documentation, to allow for a smooth processing through Customs. Manage freight, logistics and foreign consolidation of containers. Arrange delivery of containers. Prepare and follow up on vendor shortages and overages, as well as (import) insurance claims; insurance certifications and payment. Manage importation logistics spreadsheet, detailing VAT, Duties payments; reconciling against Broker information, etc. Arrange establishment of letters of credit (if required) of foreign suppliers. Coordinate with Accounts department payments for suppliers and trade; schedule payments in a timely manner (wire transfers as necessary), manage overages/shortages/credits. Coordinate purchase orders; keep track of process of goods ordered. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Managing Director. Job Requirements Knowledge/Experience CAPE or Associate degree in Business studies. Five O' Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics. At least five years in Buying and three years in Logistics, or a combination of education and experience. Computer Literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel. Required Competencies Able to communicate at a corporate executive level. Effectively communicate to keep Managing Director up-to-date on all aspects of work. Able to work under pressure whilst remaining adaptable and flexible. Able to multi-task and ensure all tasks are completed within given timeframes. Sound problem solving skills.
