A global business with a large presence in Caerphilly are looking to bolster their accounting function in South Wales.

Description

As Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for -

• Support the Senior Accountant in the production of the monthly information including performance data and variance analysis.
• Production of cash flow forecasts.
• Assist the Finance Manager with Year End procedures and processes including preparing schedules for audit.
• Ensure transactions are correctly coded into the nominal ledger.
• Authorise and post journal entries as required.
• Completion of data analysis and systems process reviews for key projects completed in the team.
• Complete key monthly control account reconciliations including VAT control account and fixed assets.
• Maintenance of the fixed asset registers.
• Ensure that all cost centres for which responsible are managed within the approved budgets.
• Carry out monthly meetings with budget holders and maintain up to date knowledge of what is going on in departments across the companies subsidiaries.
• Perform inter-company reconciliations and produce month end balancing journals.
• Ensure deadlines are achieved and work is undertaken to the standards set by the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager.
• To ensure that maximum use is made of information technology within the team.
• To assist in the development of a culture that is consistent with the vision and values.
• Participate in the development of department objectives and policies; share in the achievement of these objectives.

Profile

You will be studying towards a professional accounting qualification and hold at least 2-3 years accounting experience. Excellent excel skills are essential along with the ability to communicate financial information at all levels.
