Assistant Accountant required
Newport area
Salary of up to £25,000 per annum plus Study Support
Now Careers are currently working with a leading retailer based in Newport. This is a really exciting role for a part qualified accountant to take on the challenge of a demanding and fast paced role. Reporting directly into the Management Accountant you will primarily be responsible for ensuring the general ledger accounts are up-to-date and accurate as well as assisting with the production and distribution of the monthly management accounts which are widely used in the business to aid decision making and to evaluate performance against forecast, budget and prior years.
The successful candidate will have a passion for retail and the ability to efficiently analyse large amounts of data and work to strict deadlines. You will be a natural people person with a great sense of fun. Impressive interpersonal skills are a must for everyone working at this company.
Main duties to include -
• Assist in the production of the monthly management accounts
• Accruals, prepayments and various other balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with detailed reporting and variance analysis
• Maintenance of the fixed asset register
• Assist with statutory reporting, such as quarterly VAT returns, ECSL, international tax retruns and surveys for the Office of National Statistics
• Assist with the completion of the year-end audit
Skills required -
• Part qualified accountant
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• The ability to manipulate and analyse data
• Excellent attention to detail
• Previous experience working within a retail business preferable
• Good time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Build excellent working relationships with other colleagues
