We are working with an impressive client based in Bury St Edmunds who currently have an opening for a Group Management Accountant within their finance division.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Group Management Accountant will have responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operation of all aspects of the General Ledger, preparation of Management Accounts and Month End. As well as taking charge of both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting duties, The Group Management Accountant will also be responsible for supervision of the accounts team.

This position is a full-time, permanent position and the hours of work are 09:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday. The role offers a competitive salary and really generous benefits.

The primary responsibilities and duties will involve:

  • The production of Monthly Management Accounts for the group of companies and subsidiaries including variance analysis on both variable and overhead costs. This will include coordination, review and interrogation of month end accounts
  • Monthly group consolidation including publication of a monthly Accounts pack for circulation to the main Plc Board and Group leadership team
  • Assisting the group Financial Accountant in the production of the annual statutory accounts for the UK Subsidiaries
  • Assisting in the production of published accounts
  • Submission of VAT returns/ intrastate declarations
  • Preparation of Payroll journals
  • Assisting the Group Project Accountant in the preparation, development and production of the annual budget for all subsidiaries
  • Monitor Accrual and Prepayments
  • Review and reconciliation of the intercompany loan accounts
  • Government Statistics
  • Work with the Financial Controller ensuring all interest and bank charges are recorded correctly, that bank balances are optimised between accounts. Also that foreign exchange hedging levels are appropriately set, maintained and controlled
  • Development of reporting Systems to improve the dissemination of information to key managers throughout the business and the production of information to aid decision making
  • Supporting the financial controller in ad hoc investigations
  • Preparation and distribution of the groups monthly KPIs
  • Preparing of UK Corporation Tax schedules for statutory accounts for submission to the Tax Advisers and dealing with the subsequent questions
  • Alongside the Group Financial Accountant, acting as cover for the Financial Controller as required
  • Supporting the Group Management Accountant with fixed assets
  • Act as a mentor to accounts staff responsible for AP, AR, cash books etc.
  • Provide guidance on general ledger coding to members of the accounts team as required

Required skills, experiences and qualifications are as follows:

  • Part-Qualified Accountant - ACCA, CIMA, ACA (or equivalent)
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Experience of using and extracting data from financial accounting systems
  • A thorough and logical approach to tasks
  • The ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • The ability to critically analyse data and processes
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative, within a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Brilliant organisation and time management skills
  • A flexible approach to working hours
