Hours of Work: 37 hours per week Closing Date: 12 Noon (Greenwich Mean Time), Friday, 27th April 2018 For more information and to apply please visit http://jobs.tcd.ie Post Summary The Project Accounting Section manages a wide portfolio of research and capital grants with a combined value in excess of €950m. Research grant management specifically entails administering circa 1,500 research projects, awarded to over 430 Principal Investigators from over 150 different Sponsors valued at over €550m, across every Discipline and School in College. The section is responsible for: Supporting financial activity of research grants from commencement to cessation; Preparation and reconciliation of financial claims to sponsors; Recording of research income; Processing of research expenditure; Co-ordination of financial audits; Reporting of statistical data internally and externally. Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post Providing Assistance and Support for the Project Accounting Team in relation to: Preparation of research sponsor claims and related follow-up queries; Reconciling claims to grant balances; Assisting with regular review and follow-up on research grant balances and budgets, and the resulting paperwork that is generated; Ongoing liaison with academics and resolution of financial issues on their research grants; Maintenance of research grant files to an acceptable audit standard; Ongoing liaison with Academic, Technical and Administrative staff across Faculties and Trinity Research Institutes (TRI's); Facilitate auditing of research grants; Collation of documentation in preparation for audit review (circa 90 audits p.a.); Support for capital grant management; Any other duties inherent with providing a high standard of support and service within the Project Accounting Section. The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively and make a full contribution as a part of the Financial Services Division team, to relate to members of the academic and administrative areas and other staff at all levels, to demonstrate sensitivity to academic issues and to influence people outside the spheres of normal Financial Services Division and College activity. Qualifications An IATI or other accounting qualification with a minimum of three years' experience in a computerised accounting environment, preferably in a medium/large organisation Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable) Experience of working as part of a team in a busy and challenging work environment is desirable A working knowledge of computerised systems - MS Office, Word, Excel etc., is essential. (knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite would be an advantage but is not essential) Excellent organisational, people and customer service skills; Excellent numerical skills with previous financial administration and budgetary experience; Excellent attention to detail ensuring same are completed with accuracy; Ability to adapt to change; A flexible approach with the ability to operate effectively as part of a team; Motivated with a ‘can-do' attitude, will be committed to the Financial Services Division with a view to contributing to its development; Strong analytical skills; Excellent writing and communication skills; Excellent multi-tasking skills together with a proven ability to manage various projects simultaneously in a very busy environment and to prioritize accordingly; The ability to work on his/her own initiative with minimal supervision and the ability to assume additional responsibilities when necessary; Be deadline orientated and resourceful.
