We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Consultant to join our friendly and dynamicOccupational Health and WellbeingTeam. This is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months with potential for extension.

Reporting to the Manager-Safety, Risk & Improvement, the Occupational Health and Safety Consultant will be responsible for a portfolio of internal customers. The primary function of the role is to support the development and implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management system (OHSMS) across Melbourne Health.

Your typical day will look like . . .

  • Act as a consultant and resource with regard to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Utilise knowledge, skills and experience to make recommendations related to OH&S best practice to department managers and staff.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development to ensure personal and organisational safety performance is paramount within Melbourne Health.
  • Participate in investigations and audits relevant to the OH&S Department and Divisional responsibilities.
  • Undertake Risk Assessments and development of Safe Working Procedures for Melbourne Health in conjunction with other relevant parties.
  • Assist in the collection, management, analysis and reporting of data to various groups and stakeholders.
  • Provide education to staff to enhance understanding of OH&S legislation, regulations and codes.
  • Ensure that every effort is made to maintain the confidentiality of information.

What you will bring . . .

  • Experience as an Occupational Health and Safety specialist, preferably having worked in a large, complex organisation.
  • You like assisting managers in coach and mentoring
  • You are highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • You love working with a close and committed team and being able to add value through your skills, knowledge and experience.
