Accounts Assistant – Woking
GBP21,000 – GBP22,000 + Study Package

Our client is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their established Head Office based in the outskirts of Woking. Working in a vibrant and successful business, this role offers for the right candidate opportunity to progress in their career and would offer a full Study Package along with full support.

Duties:

Client work

Planning and undertaking, under supervision, the accounts preparation work on a small portfolio of clients. Taking these jobs to a stage of completion ready for review
To attend stock takes as required for audit clients
To provide assistance to Managers on larger accounts preparation and audit assignments
Taking responsibility for the timely completion of Confirmation Statements for various clients
Provide assistance to Managers, where required, for ad hoc work including: profit and cash flow forecasting, management accounts, valuations, due diligence work, company secretarial work etc
Seeking out Manager advice as appropriate

IRIS Database

Update your aspect of the IRIS database to ensure that accurate exception reports can be prepared at all times
Manage IRIS database for Business Services Group as required by managers

Assisting in maintaining the client relationship

Face to face meetings and other verbal and written communications, under supervision where necessary
Answering or redirecting client queries promptly
Maintaining a constant dialogue with appropriate clients
Discussing with Managers any recommendations to clients to improve their accounting systems where appropriate, not only for their benefit but to assist us with the production of their accounts in a timely and cost effective manner

Managing client expectations

Supporting colleagues with their workloads to ensure client expectations are met
Deal with client affairs in a cost effective and timely manner

Managing budgets and WIP

Monitoring work against the budget and delivering against it with no unexpected write offs, identifying where additional work is necessary and agreeing this with the Manager before the work is undertaken, in accordance with the staff handbook

Developing the Firm

Assisting where required in the overall development of the firm, in line with the firm's marketing strategy

Managing Self

Undertake research on technical issues for Managers when required
Identification of own training and development needs as required to carry out the job
Other duties as assigned

Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential
Knowledge of IRIS or similar accounting package & SAGE preferable
High standard of verbal and written communication skills as well as a excellent telephone manner
Strong communication skills (e.g. the ability to relate to others at all levels of an organisation both internally and externally)
Attention to detail and accuracy

Appropriate use of initiative
Flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed time frames
