Business Overview

The Asia-Pacific Anti-Financial Crime Department supports Deutsche Bank businesses in the region manage AFC risk, is responsible for ensuring that related processes are in place and that all policies, procedures and guidelines conform to internal Deutsche Bank policies as well as all applicable laws and regulations.

The AVP Financial Crime Investigations' primary focus will be the production of quality MIS for the wider APAC FCI team, and assist in investigations where required. Quality and timely MIS will allow the Management to make informed and timely decisions to negate or mitigate risks identified. The candidate is expected to have prior experience in transaction monitoring and investigations and must have experience with producing quality management information for a large regional function.

Position Overview

The position is located in Hong Kong and report to the Deputy FCI Head who is seated in Singapore or a designated manager in the Hong Kong FCI Hub. Depending on the experience of the candidate, some or all of the following responsibilities will be assigned:
  • Produce Quality and Timely Management Information for the Regional Financial Crime Investigations team (primary) covering data for local, regional or global submission as applicable.
  • Perform AML monitoring responsibilities for assigned businesses or jurisdictions.
  • Perform or support autonomous reviews and investigations.
  • Conduct QA testing and oversight on monitoring processes in the Asia Pacific.
  • Coordinate and work with AFC staff in the home and other locations to ensure consistency in standards and policy implementation.
  • Involvement in FCI-related technical and project work and user-acceptance tests.
  • Provide input on key initiatives and other ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Investigate cases and associated transactions and identify potential areas of risk (financial, reputational, and regulatory) within the transactions and associated client relationship review
  • Investigate cases utilizing knowledge of money laundering, financing of terrorism and related issues, seeking guidance and assistance when required from the Team Manager and other colleagues
  • Identify current transaction typologies and keep abreast of emerging ones and apply said typologies to the working of the cases
  • Provide other support and assistance to the AML/CTF Manager as required

Key Skills and Requirements
  • Experience setting up Management Information processes and Key Risk Indicator Matrix
  • Exposure to data visualization and related tools (e.e., Tableau)
  • Sound technical AML, KYC, investigations knowledge and skills, with demonstrated hands-on experience
  • A background in a Financial Investigation Unit or Financial Crime Investigations with broad knowledge of AML or other investigations
  • Familiarity with diverse banking products across business lines and experience in working on AML monitoring and case management systems.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and efficient
  • Strong analytical skills with an investigative mindset
  • The ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines with no loss of accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work well with and within a team
  • A professional business attitude in the workplace
  • Some subject matter expertise in AML/CTF typologies/trends
