SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Staff Accountant requires an employee to be able to perform all functions necessary to successfully complete reporting, monthly financial close, reconcile all balance sheet accounts and accounts payable duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare necessary journal entries in support of the monthly close process.

• Manage vendor payment expectations; reconcile outstanding vendor statements, research and resolve issues with vendors

• Responsible for Accounts Payable, including recording the invoices to the proper G/L account, prepare AP packages and compile the weekly payables report to adhere to budget.

• Compile, verify, analyze and prepare financial reports on a weekly and monthly basis.

• Identify and research variances to budget and prior periods.

• Cash and credit T&E detail reviews and credit forecasting as needed

• Monitor internal controls to ensure accurate and timely submission and reporting of financial performance.

• Record daily credit card purchases and deposit activity.

• Maintain client and vendor account information in multiple systems.

• Develop relationship with co–workers to ensure team environment.

• Assist with Special Projects – on an as needed basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university

• Proficiency with the MS Office Applications, particularly MS Excel

• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines

• 3+ years of full–charge accounting experience required

• Previous public accounting experience or data analyst experience preferred

• Understanding of General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Must have a firm understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent understanding of accounting concepts and experience with accounting information systems

• Prior project accounting or analysis; preferably within a professional services environment

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to communicate effectively and professionally with the consulting directors, accounting team and other key employees

• Ability to organize, meet strict deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team

• Ability to process high volumes of work with proficiency and accuracy

• Highly organized and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

• Consistently demonstrate a high level of accuracy in their work

• Has the ability and confidence to get into the detail of the systems to a transactional level to find the cause of an issue, to understand that detail and the cause – and to solve it.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by the job are close vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, and office supplies.
