Becoming a Trainee Accountant with Capita Local Government:
The purpose of this role is to provide an excellent opportunity for the trainee to gain real and significant work experience in the Financial Accounting team in order to quickly gain relevant experience which, alongside appropriate studies, should equip them to accelerate their career progression.
What you will do:
- To be a technical financial accounting resource for the Financial Accounting team assisting in ensuring the financial statements of the authority are closed down in a timely manner and all other related financial matters that the section is responsible for are delivered accurately and on time.
- To support the achievement of all aspects of the section's objectives, tasks and workloads as directed by the Senior Financial Accountant or Financial Accountant.
- To be involved in discussions with internal and external audit dealings on any matters affecting the closedown of accounts, audit of accounts or anything else of a significant financial nature at the discretion of the senior financial accountant or financial accountant
- Assist in providing sound, pro–active and flexible financial advice and technical accounting support services to managers and business partners and ensure that effective and proactive support is available and provided at all times
- Support the financial accountant in ensuring that comprehensive procedures are developed & maintained that are compliant with all Council policies, best practice and statutory requirements
- To process journals on the financial management system
- To support the financial accountant in ensuring the completion of all balance sheet and other reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis.
- To assist in completing all period end processes, final account preparation and internal and external reporting activities in accordance with required timescales and current accounting standards
Your experience will include:
- Degree educated or AAT qualified or equivalent
- Highly numerate
- Well organised, accurate and efficient
- Experience of developing productive, meaningful, trusted and positive working relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyse, interpret, understand and disseminate complex and detailed technical and professional issues in an easy to understand way
- Commitment to maintain professional and ethical standards.
