Our client is a leading UK Manufacturing business operating in the Merseyside area. As part of a larger European company and a market leader in their field, they are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join their Finance team reporting directly to the Finance Manager in what is an exciting and varied role with responsibilities including:

– Purchase ledger management: Responsible for all aspects of purchase ledger including optimisation of KPIs and supervision of 2 direct reports
– Ensure all transactions are in accordance with VAT / tax legislation and recorded correctly
– Complete monthly VAT returns
– Responsible for banking activities including daily reconciliations, payment runs and cash allocation
– Debtor management including sales invoice reconciliation, credit management procedures, weekly / month end reporting, weekly debtor meetings with Sales, initial investigation of new customer credit applications and specific bad debt accrual
– Maintain fixed asset ledger
– Work with Management Accounts & Engineering to ensure accurate and timely capitalisation / depreciation and complete annual impairment review
– Creation of manual sales invoices, vendor managed inventory invoicing and reconciliation of consignment stock balances
– Month end activities including review / correction of invoice postings, invoice accruals, support Management Accounts team with queries
– Monthly balance sheet reconciliation, review & management reporting commentary
– Monthly payroll review and reconciliation
– Point of contact for internal / external audit for span of control
– Complete ONS returns including intrastats
– Development of processes and systems to improve efficiency and data quality
– Various / adhoc project work as required by the business including supporting Brexit preparations (duties, import VAT, export / import processes) and readiness for real time VAT (expected April 2019)

Our client wants to consider applicants who are Qualified or studying towards a formal qualification such as CIMA or ACA, but applicants must have some previous experience of Financial Accounting, ideally having previously operated in a similar profile role for a fast paced manufacturing business. As the role involves supervising 2 direct reports and liaising with a variety of teams, you must have strong communication skills and will have confidence and credibility when dealing with non–finance budget holders. Strong MS Excel skills are essential and SAP experience will be of particular interest.
