We are an AIM listed Business Information and B2B media Group, providing strategic, market and competitive intelligence to a global list of blue chip clients to enable them to fulfil their own strategic ambitions. We also have print, web and events businesses which operate in the B2B marketing and advertising space.

With our global headquarters in London, this role offers the opportunity to work in our shared service finance centre in Hull, which has been established for six years. We are looking for a self–motivated and confident professional to join our existing management accounts team on a 12 month maternity cover contract.

Primary responsibilities include:

Working within the finance team, we expect you to have close interaction with the wider commercial business with the main responsibility being to manage the production of monthly management accounts for our consulting business. Duties will include:

  • Calculation and posting to accounting system of accruals / prepayments / deferred revenue for consulting business
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Production of monthly forecasts
  • Review of the management accounts with key stakeholders to ensure the numbers are both reliable and robust, ensuring all variances can be explained
  • Provide useful insight into actual spend vs. budgeted spend to enable senior management to make more informed rational decisions
  • Balance sheet reconciliation preparation for key nominal accounts
  • Preparation of Quarterly UK VAT return
  • Assistance with annual audit

Skills and Abilities required:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical problem–solving skills, analysis and design skills, communication and documentation skills
  • Experience of interaction with senior level management
  • Motivated and driven attitude with the ability to suggest and implement process improvements if possible
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and complete work to a high standard under pressure
  • A talent to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues
