Interim Commercial Finance Director

This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Commercial Finance Director to join a growing digital media organisation. You will initially be based in the UK for 6-12 months and then relocate to Japan to help drive the performance of the business.

Description

We have an exciting and high profile opportunity for an individual to play a critical role in the continued expansion in Japan. Key responsibilities include:

Key member of the regional management team in understanding the financial results and suite of business KPIs (and using them to play a leading role in driving the performance and maximising opportunities across all areas of the business within the region)

Influence and assist regional management with respect to evaluating negotiating, contracting new opportunities and contracts. This will include, but not be limited to, analysing pricing, new partnership arrangements, rights opportunities and multi-channel sales expansion strategies

Lead the local budget and forecasting cycles and commercial monthly reporting for all elements of gross margin (including challenging / obtaining buy-in from non-finance teams on the forecast inputs & KPIs that drive financial outputs) - and managing the business against those barometers and reporting/interpreting actual results. To include the following areas:

• Free trial and subscriber forecasts

• Revenue

• Platform & OEM distributions

• Multi-channel margin analysis and impact of mix on outturn

• Rights recognition

• Pro-active role, working with the central teams, to set the product roadmap and ensure that the local business has their voice heard. Lead the local ongoing monitoring / reporting of ROI metrics to analyse performance and determine future prioritisation.

• Leading role in the establishment and maintenance of a strong culture of governance and control across the business and ensuring that the division's central functions are kept up to date

• Ensure regional management keep within their cost budgets - proactive tracking, measurement, forecasting, challenge and support. Across both costs within gross margin but also operational and production costs below the line.
• Key role as part of the regional management preparing board and management presentations

Effectively communicating actual and expected performance to the central finance team as well as external market trends and factors
