The role's key function is to provide support financial support and continual analysis of commercial trends. Analysis of such areas as sales growth, margins and return on stock investment, and analysis of new product introduction.

To support the business and accounts for movements in the bought in finished goods cost base, including period end reporting, annual budgeting and forecasting, and bonus tracking.

Client Details

The role sits within a division of large group with over £1bn turnover. They have a number of manufacturing and distribution sites across the UK and have enjoyed successful growth over the past number of years.

Description

Maintain accurate product cost records and monitor product cost movements in order to calculate and forecast PPV for purposes of divisional reporting and P&L forecasting.

  • Analyse volumes, margin, return on investment etc. to support commercial decision making, identifying future opportunities eg. Product gaps, complementary sales, MOQ, tail products etc

  • Support new product development, providing commercial analysis and commentary highlighting the risks and opportunities of introduction.

  • Report the true cost of product for the categories basket of goods to keep the business informed of latest costs and to support Trade's sales price increases.

  • To provide continual, timely analysis of Trade sales, margins and return on investment for different products and product categories, and ensure that such analysis is presented in a format and to an audience where key commercial intelligence can be learned for decisions moving forward

  • To provide ad hoc support and coaching to more junior members of the Commercial Finance team

Key service priorities are:

* Period end reporting

* Budget preparation

* Provision of commercial analysis

* Support of the NPI process

The Commercial Analyst will be in constant communication with different functions of the business to enable him/her to develop an end to end understanding of the commercial impact of products or initiatives.

The nature of the communication can range from provision of information (eg how product costs are tracking against budget), to providing commercial challenge to a particular initiative (eg launching a product with a poor return)

Profile

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills are essential, and experience in a commercial environment highly desirable.
  • Organisational awareness is paramount within the role.
  • Enjoys building relationships and regular communication with a number of different people
  • Must have the ability to challenge others, resilience, the ability to influence, and high levels of self confidence
  • Must remain flexible to the ever changing demands of the Supply Division. In order to maintain this flexibility the Commercial Analyst must organise their own workload, effectively, and prioritise according to the organisations needs
