Description

As a result of this growth in combination with recent European acquisitions, their tax function is an area which has been pinpointed for investment. The team is responsible for all of the Direct and Indirect tax returns and payments across the business, including easyJet Airline Company Limited, easyJet Switzerland and easyJet Europe Airline GmbH as well as overseas branches and Specialist Companies.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Manage the Indirect Tax functions of the business.
  • Manage the UK and European VAT and Air Passenger Duty (APD) aspects of the business.
  • Develop a close working relationship with all areas of the business including the revenue and commercial finance teams and pricing teams amongst others.
  • Answer questions in relation to the effect of potential business change on tax rates.
  • Ensure all systems across the business are set up correctly to record and report VAT and APD.
  • Ensure indirect tax aspects are considered and maintained during the implementation of a new accounting system to safeguard the integrity of the tax data.
  • Identifying projects which may have tax implications and advise on these issues
  • Manage UK and European VAT, APD and Intrastat & EC Sales list returns prior to submission to the relevant tax authorities.
  • Review all tax related balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the team and ensure any outstanding and reconciling items on the returns are dealt with on a timely basis.
  • Answer all VAT and APD related queries from the business including but not limited to AP and AR queries on tax codes and tax rates on invoices.
  • Ensure any changes in legislation are incorporated in the business and interest parties notified.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Qualified Accountant / Tax Advisor (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIMA or IIA Knowledge of pan European indirect taxes)
  • Proven VAT and Tax Compliance background
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and thought skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Solid Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstration of cross function working.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Experience within the travel/hospitality/leisure industry would be beneficial
