About the role:
We are seeking an appropriately qualified building surveyor who will be responsible for the maintenance and continual development of Councils fire safety program. The position also requires the undertaking of fire safety inspections to determine the level of fire safety compliance within existing buildings in accordance with the Building Code of Australia and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations and undertake appropriate regulatory action when required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

Tertiary qualifications and job related experience in building surveying with a minimum level of A4 Accreditation under the Building Professionals Board Accreditation scheme.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislation relating to development, and building control, with particular regard to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations, the Local Government Act 1993 and Regulations and the Building Code of Australia.
Good Interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral and high level computer literacy skills.
Well-developed mediation and negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and a desire to acquire new skills.
A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and community education.
Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and a WHS White Card.
A current class C driver's license.
