About the Role
Seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Pharmacist, Grade 3, to work full time in the perioperative setting across Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown Hospital .
- Fixed Term, Developmental, Full Time 80 hours per fortnight, until 26/04/19
- Lead the direction, planning, provision and review of pharmacy services to the operating theatres across Western Health
This is an excellent opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to work with Anaethetic and Perioperative teams to implement medication safety improvements, reductions in drug expenditure and co-ordinate quality improvement initiatives.
Duties
- To promote quality use of medicines within the Operating Theatres
- To act as the representative of the pharmacy service in all matters relating to patient care
- Ensure that any risks and adverse events are reported and assessed in line with developing and implementing prevention strategies
- Identify trinds in risk relating to medicines used in the perioperative setting
- Advise on issues relating to rational prescribing with repsect to efficacy, side effects and safety and recommend alternative therapies
Essential Criteria
- Eligible for general registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Recognised post-graduate masters level degree in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to monitor trends in drug expenditure and optimise financial outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to keep abreast of current knowledge and accepted practices
- Ability to work across any Western Health Campus
