Financial Controller
Maidstone
£35,000 Dependent upon experience

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this is a full time permanent role based in the centre of Maidstone.

The firm is newly formed and has significant growth plans, making one of the largest firms in the South East.

The Financial Controller has the day to day responsibility for the efficient running of the Finance team, will be responsible for the day to day compliance with the Solicitors accounts rules, cash forecasting and management.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

Responsibility for adherence to the solicitors Accounts rules and safeguarding client monies
Managing the finance team and ensuring that all internal controls are adhered to
Financial reporting of the company, including preparation of the monthly board pack, annual statutory accounts fit for audit and internal reporting
Preparing the annual budget for approval and updating the model on a monthly basis
Developing systems both in finance and throughout the company to drive efficiencies, stronger internal controls and cost savings
Full analysis of time, and WIP, debtors to maximise the cash flow for the company and liaising with the senior team and team leaders on the same
Preparation of corporation tax computations ready for submission, and tax planning for the company
Ensuring the continual development of the Finance Team, to continually increase their skills set and personal development
Preparation of VAT returns and liaison with the C and E

You will ideally be ACA qualified or equivalent as well as a 2:1 or higher degree

You will need to have full knowledge of UK GAAP and current accounting disclosures and statutory requirements, as well as current UK Corporation tax and VAT regimes

You will need to have very strong excel abilities with the ability to program in VBA an advantage, preparation of statutory accounts and audit liaison as well as a good understanding of Corporation Tax and VAT.

You will also need to have experience of managing a reasonable sized finance team.

My client will be looking for a full strong history of financial control within a fast growing company and relevant experience within a Legal firm would be advantageous
