Principle responsibilities of the role : St. Paul's Garda Credit Union is one of the largest industrial Credit Unions in Ireland, with over 30,000 members nationwide. The Head of Credit will report to the CEO and the Board and will be primarily responsible for the progressive and efficient operation of the credit function within St. Paul's Garda Credit Union, including future development and implementation of credit policies and procedures and adherence to all regulatory and legislative requirements, taking into account the requirement to maximise prudent loan growth. He/She will also be responsible for the implementation of all lending-related marketing strategies and the delivery of income targets, in line with the strategic plan. Key Responsibilities Manage the credit function and the prudent vetting of loan applications and documentation through effective and efficient underwriting processes and applications Daily management of the lending application pipeline, ensuring that applications are approved in a timely and streamlined way, referred to credit committee if and when required Develop the credit capability within the Credit Union, coach and mentor to ensure the team reach their full potential Maintain internal proficiency with all legislative requirements Develop marketing and business development plans to support the loan income targets of the strategic plan Analysis of the lending activity to monitor trends and under-performing loan products Develop reporting routines and content for the management team, credit committee and the Board on the performance in lending Responsible for the design and development of new and innovative lending products in line with the strategic plan Promote a positive and engaged workforce, performance driven and focused on KPIs to ensure targets are met As Team Manager, ensure all reviews and appraisals are carried out in a timely and effective manner Develop and implement process efficiencies and ongoing evaluation of all credit processes and systems Provide support to staff to ensure the successful implementation of targets, goals and objectives from the strategic plan The above is not an exhaustive list of duties as the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the Credit Union The successful candidate should have the following: Experience in managing a lending/credit function within a credit union or other financial services provider Proven track record in achieving business results through a sales management process Relevant industry qualifications Demonstrated capabilities in people management Excellent communication and presentation skills Experience in mortgage processing and assessment is desirable Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills Strong negotiation skills Closing Date for receipt of applications is 16 th March 2018
