On behalf of our client, a Northern Ireland Utilities Network Provider, Apple Recruitment are seeking to recruit Finance Assistant to cover a 9 month fixed term maternity contract with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will focus on the sales ledger in a highly customer focused service. The Finance Assistant will: Maintaining and updating accurately customer records on the TOTAL accounting system. Processing of sales ledger transactions for the group companies on a daily basis to department deadlines.  Generating sales invoices and credit notes with accuracy, speed and due consideration to applicable rates of VAT. Processing and allocating daily receipts on the sales ledger.  Registering cash, cheque, card and BACS payments accurately and on a timely basis. Registering sales ledger refunds and cancelling payments. Regular analysis of the Sales Ledger to identify misallocations and preparation of write-offs for authorisation and processing. Ad hoc printing, scanning & sending out invoices to customers. Responsible for general administration duties pertaining to the role including filing paperwork Monthly responsibility with regard to entering journals & accruals on the general ledger. Preparation of month end control account reconciliations. Any other duties conducive to the effective operation of the post which the Company deem to be within the post holder's competence.  Operational requirements of the business may dictate that overtime may be required. Essential Criteria: Minimum of 5 GCSE's or equivalent 2 years relevant experience within an accounting environment Experience of working with accounting packages in particular the Sales Ledger. Experience in dealing with corporate entities, commercial businesses and consumers Experience with account procedures, aged debt ledgers etc. Excellent communication skills IT Literate particularly with Microsoft Excel High standard of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised. Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to work as part of a dedicated team A professional and flexible approach is required. The post holder can expect a rate of pay of £8 per hour based on a 37 hour week. Company benefits and excellent holidays- 20 days holiday and 11 statutory days (rising to a maximum 25 days holiday plus 11 statutory days) pro rata. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5pm & Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm Please note there is an application process for this role which closes on 1 st March 2018.
