Manager, General Accounting KPMG in Jamaica Extended Support Services Operations (JESS) provides office extension support services to KPMG in the US and is seeking to hire a suitably qualified, competent, highly motivated, Manager, General Accounting (GA) to join the General Accounting team.  The office extension shared service is based in Kingston and the team members execute their duties using online resources and tools. The Manager, General Accounting is responsible for sub-processes within the Finance and Accounting's Dallas Accounting Service Center (DASC). This position also oversees all GL team members as well as the processes performed by the team. This position applies knowledge, independent judgment and firm policies to complete moderate to complex accounting or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. Roles and Responsibilities The GL Manager performs work of a technical or analytical nature, requiring special skills, training, education and related practical experience. Plans, oversees, directs and evaluates all activities within the offshore general ledger department while working closely with all onshore and offshore resources Provides leadership to the department Manages, mentors, and provides technical direction to the offshore staff Lead the efforts to continuously improve GL processes with automation and procedural enhancements Exercises independent judgment in creating and selecting ways to complete work assignments Analyzes and addresses issues by evaluating different alternatives within a wide variety of established procedures; decisions are subject to review by higher levels of management both onshore and offshore Prepares special complex reports and analyses Oversees effort to meet deadlines while maintaining quality Works with other departments regarding processes and procedures Interacts with stakeholders and other departments as necessary Communicates with management onshore and offshore regarding policies and procedures Works with all levels of the team to update policy and procedure documents Advises team members on the policy and procedural change Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university required Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including a hands-on supervisory role Ability to guide and train staff regarding account processes and procedures Advanced knowledge of GL and accounting for Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Analysis, Other Account Analysis and Fixed Assets.
