Michael Page Finance are pleased to be partnering with the University of Bristol to appoint a Head of Finance Business Partnering positions in to their finance team. This position is part time.

Description

  • Provide financial leadership to the Faculty in determining strategic direction and aligning financial strategies to this.


  • Development of financial budgets, plans and strategies and their effective implementation for the Faculties / Professional Services divisions that they support.
  • Lead on delivery of Year end processes within the Faculty / Professional Services.
  • Lead the annual budget process for the Faculty or Division with the objective of allocating financial resources effectively within the overall income and expenditure envelope allocated to the Faculties through the Integrated Planning Process. Lead the student number target setting process for the Faculty.
  • Lead the development of business cases for Faculty specific capital investment projects.
  • Lead on the business cases for new programmes, exceptional talent cases as required.
  • Contribute to the options appraisals for investment and disinvestment cases.
  • Analysis, Reporting and Documentation
  • Understands the strategy of the Faculty / Professional Services and provides relevant and expert financial insight into performance.
  • Interprets, explains and drives financial performance within the Faculty, School or Division. Presents dynamic industry, competitor and economic contextual information as produced by the Finance Business Partner.
  • Provides expert advice on key business planning assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities.
  • Accountable for the provision of accurate, relevant and timely management information.
  • Development and analysis of the financial and commercial aspects of faculty/division specific capital projects.
  • Responsible for the Faculty or Division management accounts and commentary ensuring they are accurate and provided in a timely way to maximise effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the Faculty or Division year end forecast, ensuring that the forecast has been prepared following thorough enquiry and reflects all known facts.
  • Manage the Faculty capital budget, working with Faculty and Professional Services colleagues to ensure effective planning, management and reporting of capital budgets. Work to ensure Faculty asset base is sustainable.

    The ideal candidate for the Head of Finance Business Partnering Position:

  • Educated to Degree level - Essential
  • CCAB Qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA.) - Essential
  • Highly developed knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of finance business partnering.
  • Significant experience in a similar role providing financial advisory and management reporting services.
  • Ability to analyse complex data, making judgements and decisions, to ensure the correct accounting treatment.
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior management.
  • High level of negotiation and influencing skills - an ability to command the respect of academic and senior management staff, and to direct outcomes through persuasive arguments.
  • A proven ability to work collegiately within a team, and to interact effectively at all levels with a wide range of colleagues and external partners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to present financial information to colleagues outside of Finance.
