The Program
Telecross is a program supporting isolated and elderly people by providing a daily phone call to check on their wellbeing and safety. The calls support people to live independently in their own home, providing peace of mind and reassurance.
Telecross Volunteers are rostered to make a brief phone call between 7am - 9:00am daily to check on the wellbeing of clients who are isolated and are at risk of accident or illness that may go unnoticed.
Volunteers keep records of all the calls made and ensure the confidentiality of clients is maintained at all times.
The opportunity
If you are someone who is reliable, possess good conversational skills, and is interested in issues affecting older people and have an understanding of isolation experienced by older people, then you are the person we are looking for!
The impact
As a Telecross Volunteer, you'll provide peace of mind and be a friendly voice to people who are elderly or have disability. This role will provide you the opportunity to engage with isolated and elderly people in a positive way. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World's largest humanitarian network.
