Job Summary This position is a key member of the Shire Finance team in Europe and has responsibility for providing high quality financial insights, reporting, analysis and support to the commercial team in Ireland. The role reports directly to the Head of Finance for UK/Ireland cluster and also a strong dotted line to the General Manager Ireland. As part of the Country Leadership Management Team (CLC), the role acts as the strategic partner to the country providing financial support on all matters with a particular focus on : Decision Support -providing proactive and strategic input to drive performance High quality Financial analysis and modeling Performance Management (which encompasses both management reporting and financial planning) Support to individual managers regarding financial processes (budget, LV) Support and advice in areas of compliance with financial/ethical requirements As part of the broader European finance team the role will also play a key part in leading Commercial Ireland Legacy Shire & Legacy Baxalta integration. Responsibilities This position is responsible for: •Providing strategic financial input and leadership to the Ireland team to drive business performance and ensure appropriate return on investment •Focusing on adding value for the business by influencing decisions and identifying opportunities to invest, saving cost, avoiding / mitigating risks, forecasting future business results, establishing and interpreting leading indicators •Leading a rigorous monthly financial review process for Ireland •Identifying and explaining material budget vs actual variances •Assessing the impact of variances on the financial forecast •Preparing a summary financial package for review with the UK/Ireland business partners and local General Manager •Working with local commercial management and Shared Service Centre Europe to ensure risks are understood and mitigated •Preparation of the annual budget, and long range strategic planning for Ireland •Acting as the finance point of contact for Ireland Commercial, managing all financial requests and communicating these within the country. Working together with General Manager to collect, consolidate and verify input and clearly communicate back to the regional finance business partnering team and local commercial leaders •Representing Finance on the Ireland management team (CLC) •As part of the UK/Ireland Finance Team, leading and implementing change projects and contributing to the formulation of such programs •Interacting with the Shared Service Centre Europe, and other finance outsourcing partners to ensure monthly reporting is robust and the financial statements for the legal entities are timely and accurate •Providing local leadership, direction and input to the Legacy Shire & Legacy Baxalta integration. •Develop and grow the finance team across UK/Ireland Education & Experience Requirements Required: Finance and economy Degree or equivalent (Master) Qualified Accountant or local equivalent Significant professional experience of 10 years minimum. Experience of working in complex environment and business orientation. Experience in US GAAP, SOX SAP R/3, FI and CO,- Usage and/or implementation Hyperion HFM, Essbase and Smartview proficient user Desirable: Previous Head of Finance / CFO Positions Pharmaceutical Industry experience Big four and finance department with a multinational company Cross cultural and international experience Chartered Accountant Key Skills and Competencies •Ability to work independently and be managed on a remote basis •Technically strong with a proven ability to make sound financial decisions. •Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage conflicting demands and appropriately prioritize. •Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary for daily interaction with senior management, both within the country and across global corporate functions. •Ability to solve problems and think creatively - capacity to provide pragmatic solutions and have the drive and leadership to implement ideas through to successful conclusion. •Excellent analytical skills applied to a broad range of business and industry issues. •Demonstrated customer services focus - understanding of customer needs and desire to meet/exceed expectations Complexity and Problem Solving •Lead special projects in support of the regional financial business partnering team and the General Manager Ireland •Development and implementation of processes to improve efficiency of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting •Development of relationships across countries within the region and with the regional finance business partnering team •Providing impartial financial expertise and information to senior management to promote the ongoing growth & development of the business.
