Assistant Accountant Job Ref. JO2802 Location: Ballymena, Co. Antrim Permanent Role, Fulltime Hours Salary: Negotiable, Commensurate with Experience Our Client, is a market leader in their field of operation with a reputation for delivering their products and services to the highest standard possible. Due to continued growth and success they wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Assistant Accountant. Job Summary: To provide an effective range of administrative, accounting and clerical activities that contribute to the smooth running of the business; to give support and customer service to clients and to site workers. Key Tasks - Financial: Reporting directly to the Financial Controller the Assistant Accountant will provide an efficient service to ensure all financial requirements are completed within the authorised limits and time as requested by the Financial Controller Provide day to day support to Finance Team Maintain Fixed Asset Register Preparation of VAT returns Maintenance of sale, purchase and nominal ledgers Maintaining and administering Company financial databases (Sage) and manual records and ensure that data is backed up regularly Purchasing of goods and services in accordance with purchasing policy To check statements and other financial documents for accuracy and record transactions in nominal ledger To prepare Monthly Management accounts including accruals/prepayments/depreciation To maintain stock system, including month end stock take, ensuring goods in are booked in and balances verified regularly Undertake telephonist and general office duties Other Key Tasks: Carry out all duties in accordance with Health & Safety and Equal Opportunity Procedures and ensure legal compliance with all Health & Safety requirements throughout the Company Any other reasonable and lawful duties conducive with the effective operation of the post, which is within your competence and which may be directed by the Financial Controller To attend any necessary training as required by the Financial Controller To achieve and maintain a tidy, clean well organised office at all times.
