The Role

This is a unique leadership opportunity for a Mechanical & Balance of Plant (BOP) Engineering Manager to join Origin's Energy Supply & Operations (ESO) Asset Management & Development team based in either Brisbane or Eraring Power Station (location is flexible based on candidate preference).

You will be responsible for managing and continually developing the Mechanical & BOP team within our Engineering Services division, ensuring that Origin's business objectives are met with balanced prioritisation of all Mechanical & BOP related activities, based on stakeholder requirements and reflected in terms of cost, risk and performance.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Leading Asset Management & Development (AMD) through horizontal leadership across the Engineering Lead Team in collaboration with Development, Projects, Generation Services and Generations Operations managers
  • Lead the collaboration across Engineering Services and Generation Operations in the development, implementation and delivery of EC&I asset management strategies, including lifecycle plans, predictive maintenance and strategic spares reviews which ensure the assets are able to meet their planned production targets over the expected design life at the lowest sustainable life-cycle costs
  • Provide managerial and technical guidance and support as required, including the on-going identification, evaluation and management of risks affecting the Generation Operations assets
  • Work collaboratively across Engineering Services and Generation Operations in the development of and influence the implementation of alternative commercial strategies and modes of operation to deliver performance improvements
  • Lead the provision of technical and financial assessment of the impacts on the asset arising from the implementation of alternative commercial strategies and modes of operation
  • Actively promote and collaborate within Engineering Services and the wider Origin community in focussing on the sharing of knowledge and supporting the technical and professional development of engineers through structured programs of work experience, coaching and relevant training
  • Manage team performance and development to ensure timely service delivery

Is This You?

To succeed in this role, you will possess exceptional leadership and people skills which you will combine with strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to think strategically.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years' postgraduate experience
  • Asset Management experience
  • Exposure to Project, Change and Risk Management
  • Contractor Management experience
  • Relevant legislative and Health, Safety and Environment knowledge
  • An understanding of technical operations and delivery
  • The ability to travel as required

Qualifications in Management and Leadership will be viewed favourably, as will experience in Process Safety or Operational Excellence.
