The Office of the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDBG) is seeking a national operations specialist in Jamaica to: (1) manage the portfolio of MIF non-reimbursable technical cooperation projects in Jamaica and potential financial operations in Jamaica; (2) identify and design innovative projects -both grants and financial operations-- and programs in conjunction with sector specialists of the IDB and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC): (3) supervise the development and dissemination of operational knowledge products, as well as document lessons learned and best practices; (4) provide strategic input regarding the economic development needs of the country to maintain the MIF's mission current and relevant in Jamaica; and (5) maintain the required level of coordination with the county Representation to strategically align the MIF's activities with the IDB Group's overall strategy in Jamaica. What you'll do: Supervise and guide the implementation of technical cooperation projects in Jamaica, as well as the financial operations in Jamaica.  As such, provide the necessary technical advice and guidance so the projects achieve their objectives. Conduct discussions with potential clients and partners in Jamaica to identify new and innovative operations. Special attention should be given to projects that reflect programmatic priorities of the IDB Group in Jamaica. Lead project design teams. Provide technical guidance in defining strategic programming priorities, identifying, and designing projects aligned with the MIF's thematic areas. Analyze and evaluate potential clients to determine if they possess the minimum institutional capacity to execute MIF projects. Supervise projects' external evaluations according to MIF requirements to verify achievement of results and project effects by identifying impacts. Supervise the development of the projects' key knowledge products and communication strategies to ensure the products are adequately disseminated. Skills you'll need: Education: Master's degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, Agronomy, or Environmental Sciences, preferably with a specialization in areas related to the management of development and financial (equity and loans) projects, or enterprise finance. Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, as project coordinator, investment officer, or officer responsible for project design and technical supervision during implementation, results monitoring, and management of projects and programs aimed at developing the private sector and financed by bilateral or multilateral development institutions, non-governmental organizations, public entities, or financial institutions. Capacity and expertise in financial operations (structuring, negotiations and supervision) a plus. Language: Fluency in English and Spanish Opportunity Summary Contract Type: Renewable staff contract for a three-year fixed term. Contract Duration: Three (3) years. Post of Duty: Kingston, Jamaica Supervisor : The incumbent will be supervised by the chief of the Loan and Equity Unit of the MIF as well as the IDB representative in Jamaica.
