Summary of Responsibilities:

The business analyst is responsible for defining, researching and documenting the specific product requirements that meet the market and strategy needs. They work closely with the Product Manager, UX, Compliance, Technical support, Clients and Engineering to analyze current state functionality with thoughtful consideration of future state, and to identify any additional needs as requirements are created, review any potential compliance issues and draft the use cases associated with the product needs. Responsibilities include:

Primary Responsibilities/Objectives:

* Develop deep understanding of the product area that they are supporting

* Conduct research to solidify detailed feature requirements through user stories and/or functional specifications.

* Convert large epics or user stories into smaller, detailed user stories that developers, user experience, and quality assurance resources can digest.

* Coordinate with sprint team to ensure understanding of product requirements, prioritization of work to be developed, tested and ultimately released, deliver enhancements and bug fixes.

* Maintain up to date knowledge regarding mortgage industry and technology trends as well as the Ellie Mae product line and competitor products.

* Creating the stories and Epics as well as the associated use cases that will form the basis for the Content Plan

* Ensure their UX counterparts always have the latest, and concise list of requirements which they can use to create a corresponding UX Strategy that executes on the product plan

* Writing consistent, clear, and concise EPICS and user stories for each item referenced in the Content Plan, working closely with their UX counterparts to ensure UX–specific requirements are included as well

* Collaborate almost daily with their UX counterparts to help execute on the overall product strategy and biz plan

* Participate in scrum teams to answer team questions, ensure the requirements are understood and assist in providing any additional documentation to ensure a successful development and work closely with engineering and user experience teams and escalate key issues as needed

* Support Sales, Client Management and Technical Support with escalations

* Assist Technical Publications with the generation of client support documents

* Work with sales, customer service and customers to understand issues and minor enhancement requests as needed.

* Report status of features in progress, adjust focus and attention as priorities change

* Demonstrate functionality while in development and once completed.

Ideal Qualifications, Experience, Education:

* 4 or more years of mortgage banking experience, especially within operations management, underwriting, or loan origination system administration required.

* 2 or more years as a software business analyst preferred.

* Must have experience developing and detailing software product requirements.

* Detail–oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Experience working with cross–functional teams, including product management, development, quality assurance, support, marketing and sales.

* Flexible and able to adapt within a fast–paced, rapidly changing environment.

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or an engineering discipline required. MBA preferred.
