We are looking for a Assistant Accountant to join our small, friendly and expanding shop based accountancy practice. We specialise in providing a friendly, flexible and proactive all year round service to small businesses and individuals in Wallington and Mitcham.
Responsibitlites:
The key duties of the post are as follows:
- Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns for sole traders, rental properties, individuals and partnerships
- Preparation of corporation tax computations for limited companies
- Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns
- Completion of on-line submissions to HMRC and Companies House
- Managing the processing of weekly/monthly payrolls and setting up auto enrolment schemes
- Setting up new businesses with Companies House and HMRC
- Provision of day to day business support to clients
- Organising and updating relevant data using various applications
- Answering telephone calls, dealing with enquiries and responding to queries in a timely, courteous and efficient manner and accurately logging information
- Establishing and maintaining a professional and friendly working relationship with clients, outsourced partners and colleagues
Requirements:
Qualifications/experience/achievements required to do the job:
- Part qualified ACCA/ACA or AAT level 3/4
- 2 years’ experience in practice
- Up-to-date tax and accounting knowledge
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Knowledge of accounting software – CCH, Moneysoft, Kashflow, QuickBooks
- A high degree of IT literacy and the ability to embrace new technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer service focus
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines
- Experience of dealing with HMRC
- Working knowledge of payroll and auto enrolment procedures
- Organising and updating relevant data using various applications
