Our Tanami Operations, 540km north-west of Alice Springs, are on Aboriginal freehold land, in the NT's remote Tanami Desert. A fully equipped 1000-bed village, 40km from the mine, offers modern leisure facilities to the workforce who FIFO direct from Perth, Darwin and Alice Springs.

The Role

Reporting to the HSLP Superintendent, the HSLP (Health, Safety & Loss Prevention) Advisor will be accountable for ensuring the safety and health of employees through the delivery of professional safety services, promotion and implementation of the site Integrated Management System (IMS), and delivery in a timely and professional manner in regards to health, safety related matters.

The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8 days on/6 days off FIFO roster from Perth, Darwin or Alice Springs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • HSLP application, advice and support;
  • Occupational hygiene monitoring;
  • HSLP Learning and Development;
  • Safety Systems - risk management, investigations, safety tools and verifications;
  • IMS Support;
  • HSLP Initiatives Management.
The Person

Essential

  • Experience in Underground Mining and/or Processing in a Safety or similar capacity;
  • Minimum Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Trainer and Assessor;
  • Certificate in basic principles of Hygiene;
  • Certificate III in Surface Ventilation;
  • Experience in Incident and Accident Investigation;
  • Experience in Risk Management Tool Development;
  • Experience in Health and Hygiene;
  • Working knowledge of Emergency Response;
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems;
  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy

Desirable

  • Tertiary Qualification - in OHS or related discipline
  • Hygiene experience will be highly regarded.
  • Certificate in Cert IV Emergency Response;
  • Experience with Workers Compensations (NT);
  • Safety Management System Auditor Qualifications.
