Associate Director – Tangible Asset Valuation Services

Melbourne

Valuing tangible assets is critical in many businesses. The Tangible Asset Valuation Services (TAVS) team within Valuation Services provides robust valuations of plant, equipment, and infrastructure assets for top tier clients across a broad range of industries (locally and globally) and government entities.

Whether for tax or financial reporting purposes, asset monitoring and budgeting, strategic decision making, financial reporting, tax (and stamp duty), pre and post transaction or audit support, our team of Tangible Asset Valuation professionals across Australia work with national and international clients, every day.

Your Opportunity – Associate Director (Melbourne)

We are expanding our Tangible Asset Valuation Services team nationally, with a new opportunity for an Associate Director based in Melbourne to collaborate with our team as we grow the practice in 2025 and beyond. In this role, you will:

  • Manage large and complex tangible asset valuation engagements on a national basis.
  • Perform physical inspections of machinery, equipment, and infrastructure as required.
  • Review and build valuation models for plant, machinery, and infrastructure assets.
  • Analyse market information on companies, industries, and transactions to identify key performance metrics and value drivers.
  • Prepare and review valuation reports outlining the analysis, key assumptions, and valuation findings.
  • Deliver valuations for tax (including tax consolidation), stamp duty purposes, and accounting and reporting purposes.
  • Provide critical support to the Audit team, contributing to the stability of the financial system.
  • Establish relationship plans to build and sustain effective senior level management relationships.
  • Mentor junior staff within the tangible asset valuation team.

Your day-to-day will see you exposed to a wide range of machinery, equipment, and infrastructure across Australia, and the owners that use them.

Our team sit within our Deal Advisory and Infrastructure group and has extensive experience in providing valuation advice in relation to transactions, reorganisations, disputes, litigations, financial reporting, restructurings, and funds.

  • You have a range of experiences across equipment auctioneering, quantity surveying or other valuation experiences.
  • You have an interest or experience in delivering valuation advice across a range of sectors.
  • You are naturally inquisitive, display professional scepticism, and are not afraid to explore new ways of thinking and analysis, whilst maintaining the integrity of the Valuation process.
  • You can prepare high-quality client-ready presentations and deliverables.
  • You enjoy working in the details, with a proactive attitude towards accuracy and deadlines.
  • You love being part of small, high performing teams working towards common goals.

Your Experience

  • Tertiary level education preferable in an engineering discipline
  • Extensive experiences in tangible asset valuations, with an understanding of market trends.
  • Preferably a Member of the Australian Property Institute, American Society of Appraisers or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Strong analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and report writing skills.
  • Experience in excel-based financial assessment and financial modelling.
  • Ability to build robust relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple deliverables.
  • Recent and relevant experience working in a consultancy or valuation type environment.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Technical and time management skills with the ability to deliver exceptional client service while managing multiple demands on your time and deadlines.
