Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, investor relations, security and property.
The Expenses and Financial Control team protects the Group, and our customers through automated reconciliations, financial accounting and analytical reporting. We add value to our internal Finance customers through robust and scalable accounting practices, driving efficiency through technology led Innovation.
The Expenses and Financial Control team within FS Chief Controls and Operating Office, comprises of two Centre’s of Excellence
- Staff Expenses & PACC accounting on behalf of the Group. Focusing on financial control providing Business Unit specific reporting and insights.
- Expenses and Payments. Responsible for the Groups payments, Fixed Assets and management of expenses and corporate credit cards.
Do work that matters
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced senior analyst / manager who will be responsible for overseeing the company's fixed asset accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
You will also:
- Maintain accurate asset records
- Support financial audits
- Provide valuable insights into the Groups capital investments
- Drive accountability across different teams, divisions and business units
- You will report directly to the Manager, Fixed Assets
- You will also be required to build and maintain a relationship with various stakeholders

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Vision and Values.
- Oversee the acquisition, transfer, and disposal of fixed assets in accordance with company policies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset registers, ensuring all assets are properly capitalized and recorded
- Perform regular reconciliations of fixed asset accounts, ensuring the general ledger accurately reflects the value of assets
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, accounting policies, and internal controls related to fixed asset accounting
- Assist in the preparation of reports for internal and external audits
- Support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the asset module, ensuring efficient and accurate tracking of assets
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, IT, and operations) to track new asset acquisitions and ensure correct classification in financial records
- Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits related to fixed assets
- Simplify and transform processes and systems across the team
- Utilise system process knowledge to influence decision making and drive change
- Identify data/process issues and work with the relevant stakeholders to develop and implement solutions
We’re interested in hearing from people with
- CA/CPA professional qualification
- Tertiary qualification in business, finance or a related discipline
- Sound understanding of financial accounting and related legislation
- Strong financial control including reconciliation, analysis, investigations and reporting
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Strong influencing and communication skills with proven ability to lead process improvements
- Strong problem solving skills, continuous improvement mindset and attentional to details
- Risk Mindset
- Fixed Assets experience (Desirable)
- Experience in PeopleSoft Financials and Hyperion Essbase (Desirable)
- Experience using SQL (Desirable)
